Fixing foreclosure’s in Cleveland
Community groups are coming ahead to help the disturbed citizens of Cleveland. Foreclosure has been a worst problem in Cleveland. People are losing their homes. In such situations, community groups are trying hard to help the city’s residents. In that endeavor, they are even joining hands with the lenders, who are thought to be the enemy.
Non-profit organizations are offering counseling through their counselors. These counselors are working with the lenders and borrowers.
This is a kind of relief to the homeowners in Cleveland. And according to the people involved this effort is paying off.
Cleveland Housing Network (CHN) and the East Side Organizing Project (ESOP) have started group counseling sessions three times a week and six sessions respectively.
The scene is changing and the relationship of the lenders and borrowers are becoming more favorable. Before six months, lenders mostly offered forbearance agreements (offering more time to complete missed payments). But now, the offers are different. The new offers like refinancing subprime adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs) and that refinancing in various rates like low rate, fixed-rates, or balances.
Previously the lenders were sending the warnings to the borrowers for which the response rate was very poor. Now, the non-profit agencies, who have come into the scene, are doing it and the response rate has improved.
Lifestyle issues may be another problem for the Cleveland residents, who do not find time or money to pay for the loan they have taken. But now after counseling, the situation is improving. Financial education is another thing that can help. As the problem is getting highlighted in the Media and government is taking interest in the issue, the homeowners are more aware of the situation.
